Following is a message from Feral Friends, our related organization in DFW area.
Dear Friends,
MAC (Metroplex Animal Coalition) is sponsoring its 1st Annual
DFW Spay Day event on Sunday, April 26th. Feral Friends is a member group of MAC, along with a number of other rescue groups in the DFW area.
We are asking that anyone who knows someone who has cats or dogs that need to be spayed and neutered, please urge them to make an appointment for this event. (Please note this is not open to feral cats.) We are trying to book 100 spays and neuters and need your help to do this! We are asking for $42 per animal to cover surgery costs, but are also able to help with some of the cost for those who are not able to pay it all.

Spring is coming and the Comet Cats are enjoying the weather by sunbathing near phase 2. The following pictures were taken in February 2009 by one of the CCC officers:
If you have other pictures of Comet Cats on campus, send them for us! This will help us make sure all of them have tipped ears. All feral cats that go through our spay/neuter program are ear tipped to show hey are sterilized.

On Friday, February 27th the CCC will be hosting a potluck game night!
Everyone who plans to come please bring a food item to the pot luck. Also, if you have any special game for us to play bring it along.
There will be a sign-up sheet at our next CCC meeting on Sunday February 22nd to sign up for food items and games. If you are unable to make it to the meeting please contact us to sign up to bring something.

On Sept. 26 there will be a fundraiser at the Sweet Tomatoes in Addison. If you bring in a flyer and buy a meal and beverage, 30% of sales will go towards the Comet Cat Coalition.

The first articles by UTD Mercury motivated we students to organize the Comet Cat Coalition (CCC), as an assistance to the UTD Facilities Management. Now, after 8 months, they revisited the issue with an interview with CCC’s president Heather Zarbaugh. Read the article on UTD Mercury’s website here.

The second general meeting in 2008 will be on Monday, March 17 at 6:30 PM. The location will be announced. We will be having a guest speaker, Pam Asturias, Vice President of Feral Friends*. She will be speaking about issues related to feral cats.
*Feral Friends is an animal rescue organization in Dallas area. It was founded in 1998 and incorporated in the state of Texas in 1999.
UPDATE: The meeting is in the Gemini room in Student Union.
